Geoffrey Pleyers is FNRS researcher and teaches at the University of Louvain (Belgium). He is the current vice-president for research of the International Sociological Association. He chairs the research program “Social movements in the global age” at the University of Louvain and at the Collège d’Etudes Mondiales in Paris. His research and activism focus on social movements, Latin America, ecology, critical consumption, democracy and globalization. His main books are “Alter-Globalization. Becoming Actors in the Global Age” (Polity, 2011) and “Movimientos sociales en el siglo XXI” (CLACSO, 2018 – free download link).
With Breno Bringel, he is the founding editor of the editorial platform “Open Movements: for a global and public sociology of social movements.”
